Renewing in Person

If you've let your renewal notice sit on your kitchen table until it's too late to send in, trek down to a Secretary of State branch office. Don't forget to bring your soon-to-be expired license with you, or two forms of other acceptable identification.

If you renew in person, you'll undergo a vision test and have a new photo taken. You'll also need to remember your Social Security number, as regulations require the staff to request it. If you have six or more unpaid parking tickets, you won't be allowed to renew your license until they are paid.
